An Accumulation of Artistry, History & Self-Expression
Drag Culture is Something To Celebrate
Dragutante is a non-profit which hosts an annual event to provide a platform for young artists (under 18) to fully realize their self expression on stage.
This full-day event will create a safe place for young, creative, future Drag queens to experience the Drag lifestyle behind the scenes, as well as on stage!
We believe that providing this opportunity to get to know celebrity Drag queens will show families who are uneducated about Drag culture that it is something to be celebrated!
We would like to give a special thanks to Fox 31 News photographer James Long who filmed last year’s event.
The 2019 event date is set for August 18 – Fox 31 News filmed last year’s event and will hopefully be back this year! We also hope to have national news coverage of the event!
How You Can Help
As a 501 (c)(3) non-profit, we have been fortunate that much of our events have been made possible with donations from sponsors such as Denver Center for the Performing Arts and the ICRME – Imperial Court of the Rocky Mountain Empire. However, after finalizing the budget, we are looking to cover the cost of staff, security, labor, entertainment, production costs and advertising.
“I don’t do Drag for attention. I do Drag because it makes me feel the most myself I ever have. It makes me feel valuable, beautiful and special. Someday I plan to perform, but I haven’t had the courage yet. That’s OK. It’s not because I’m worried someone is going to see me dressed like a woman, it’s because getting up on stage can be scary, and even the professional queens still get stage fright. I’ve noticed that these days everybody wants to label me. Everybody wants to know if I am gay, or straight. I don’t think that’s important. I am me. It shouldn’t matter if I am gay or straight. I am valuable as who I am. Drag has been something that made me feel valuable. By being beautiful on the outside, it has help me understand that I am beautiful on the inside.”
We are thrilled to be hosted by several celebrity queens – including Ginger Douglas, Miss Jessica, LALA Shearz, Porsha Demarco-Douglas, Gemini Skye and Jr. Emcee Ophelia Peaches!

Start The Day
The day will begin with fabulous makeup and photographs backstage. Tween/teen queens ages 8-18 will have the opportunity to work side by side with legendary professionals while having their makeup done and create a look that lets them express their inner diva.

The Afternoon
Dragutantes will enjoy the afternoon creating makeup looks, asking questions and experiencing their Drag debut in a safe setting.

Show Time
Once the divas have completed their transformations, a fabulous show will give them a haus to stomp the runway with their newfound persona.
